Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

Meet Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant chemist turned unconventional cooking show host in 1960s California. After being fired from her research position, she transforms a simple television cooking program into a platform for empowering women with scientific knowledge and life lessons. With her loyal dog Six-Thirty and sharp wit, Elizabeth challenges societal expectations while navigating motherhood, career setbacks, and unexpected romance.

This feminist triumph resonates perfectly with Sri Lanka’s growing conversation about women’s empowerment and STEM education. As female professionals continue breaking barriers locally and globally, Elizabeth’s story of resilience against workplace discrimination and her determination to educate others through science speaks directly to modern Sri Lankan readers seeking inspiring female protagonists.
