Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett

Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands is the second book in Heather Fawcett’s Emily Wilde fantasy series.

Dr. Emily Wilde is a scholar of faerie folklore, known for writing a comprehensive encyclopaedia of the Hidden Folk.  Her colleague (and former rival) Wendell Bambleby is more than just charming — he is an exiled faerie king, on the run from his dangerous mother, and desperate to find a door back to his realm.

This time, Emily’s research centers on mapping the realms of faerie. But when assassins sent by Wendell’s mother invade Cambridge, she and Wendell are forced to flee into a broader adventure. Their quest leads them from the university to the Austrian Alps, where Emily hopes they might locate a nexus — a magical door that could reconnect Wendell with his home.

Along the way, Emily has to navigate dangerous folk, new friendships, and her own complicated feelings for Wendell, while unpicking the mysteries of faerie doors … and of her own heart
